Consider this: the cellulose substrate for Soileos is sourced from upcycled crop processing residues like pea and lentil hulls, and oat husks. Typically relegated to relatively low-value uses such as animal bedding and cattle feed, these residues find new life in Soileos, enriching agricultural fields with each planting season. It's circularity in action, where waste is transformed into a valuable resource, closing the loop of agricultural production.
Our commitment to circularity extends beyond product innovation to infrastructure. Take, for instance, our decision to repurpose an idle pulse depot in Rosetown for our first commercial Soileos manufacturing facility. By avoiding the construction of a new facility, we saved on material and construction costs and prevented approximately 400 tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions. That's equivalent to the emissions released through driving a typical full-size pickup truck for 80 years.
